About the Job

Reporting to a Vice President of Graham’s Major Projects Sector within our Infrastructure Division, the Senior Contracts Manager, Infrastructure, during the Pre-Construction activities, is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to management on bid documents in respect of contractual, commercial and risk; and during the Construction activities maintaining, tracking and managing all contractual, commercial, risk and claim related matters.

 
As a Senior Contracts Manager at Graham you will:
  • Review commercial procedures, processes and policies and make recommendations to management to facilitate improvement in work winning and execution of Projects
  • Liaise with other Graham Area of Expertise (Legal, Risk Management etc.) in reviewing the bid documentation
  • Assist with the preparation of various agreements during the bid phase e.g. Designer Teaming Agreements, Design Services Agreements, Professional Services Teaming Agreements, Integrated and Non-Integrated Joint Venture Agreements etc., as required
  • Assist during the bid phase to ensure RFQ/RFP submissions are compliant and risks are identified and addressed within the submissions
  • During the execution phase, prepare contract summaries for the project team, identifying key terms and conditions and obligations. Support the project team throughout the project lifecycle to ensure compliance with contract obligations is maintained
  • Prepare subcontracts, purchase contracts, purchase orders (including internal reviews) and approvals prior to the finalization of the subcontracts, purchase contracts and purchase orders
  • Prepare notices, correspondence, change order requests, subtrade change orders and ensure financial / commercial tracking is up to date and complete
  • Prepare and maintain risk registers and facilitate risk awareness with the project team
  • Preparation of claims including defining contractual entitlement and ensuring the required level of substantiation and quantification is provided to achieve the objective of the claim
  • Support the defense of claims arising from the Graham supply chain including refuting contractual entitlement (if applicable) or fairly evaluating the claims ensuring that the required level of substantiation and quantification is provided to support their claims
  • Prepare monthly reports on contract, finance and commercial matters as required
  • Monitor the requirements for contract close-out to achieve formal project acceptance including the establishment of warranty processes and procedures for completed projects
 
To be Successful at Graham, you will have the following qualifications and experience:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in a senior contracts / commercial manager position at a large General Contractor, responsible for oversight of all contractual, commercial, and procurement matters on construction of infrastructure projects valued at least $30 Million, including roadways, marine, ports, airports, water and waste water treatment plants
  • Advanced knowledge of construction contract administration, contract law, dispute resolution and the principles of purchasing, finance and estimating
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Quantity Surveying along with Chartered Quantity Surveying Status or equivalent
  • Advanced understanding of construction principles and methodologies
  • Strong negotiation skills, including resolution of deficiencies and/or claims
  • Detailed understanding of Contract Law and experience working with various contract forms
  • Experience working within a Design-Build environment
 
Compensation and Benefits:
