About the Job


To deliver safe, reliable, efficient and environmentally compliant operations and projects, our client requires Discipline Engineers to support and provide guidance to evaluate technical risks and identify risk mitigation solutions for its operations throughout Northern BC & Western Canada, including sweet & sour gas/liquids processing plants, mainline transmission/compressor stations, field gathering facilities and pipeline systems.
These engineers will work as a part of a multi-Disciplined team in Calgary to strengthen in-house resources and capabilities.

• Provide subject matter expertise in their respective Discipline.

• Leverage past experiences and knowledge to identify technical issues, risks, and value adding opportunities and appropriately address these through development of engineered solutions and/or revisions to specifications, standards, and operating practices.

• Provide engineering leadership and participation in hazards identification/evaluation, Risk assessments and analysis, incident investigations and root cause failure analysis.

• Work with Engineering peers to deliver engineering solutions.

• Provide engineering support for activities requiring intensive subject matter expertise, including identification and resourcing of niche engineering expertise, and strategic vendor technical governance.

• Be capable of managing the development of technical solutions using both internal and external resources by providing facts and data to support the business case for the decision making process.

• Actively participate as a collateral partner with peer Engineering and Operations teams to ensure personal & process safety, environmental, reliability, regulatory compliance, and business objectives are achieved. Ensure codes, regulations, company and professional engineering requirements, practices, and standards are adhered to and consistently applied.

• Communicate risks, status, and actions through established reporting methods to ensure management and stakeholders are informed.

• Be a results driven individual who takes ownership of problems and sees them through to completion.

• University degree in relevant engineering discipline (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical) from an accredited university with appropriate specialization.

• Professional Engineer registered with one of the Canadian provincial associations.

• 10 years post-degree engineering experience.

• Good facilitation skills. Have to be comfortable running meetings with numerous stakeholders in it.

• Demonstrated experience in an operating environment to proactively identify and manage technical risk, ensure compliance, develop and execute programs, standards and best practices.

• Strong English verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong presentation skills

• Basic computer skills including spreadsheets and word processing.

• Good knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g. CSA, API, ASME).

• Willingness and ability to travel.

• Valid driver’s license.

• Previous experience in the natural gas processing industry within a related technical field.

• Good leadership and team building skills utilizing collaborative methods.

• Previous experience where process safety / safety engineering was a primary function.

• Practical experience participating in or leading Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), HAZOP, FMEA, Risk Analysis, Incident investigations
