Job Summary
The Production Technician is required to set-up, adjust manufacturing machinery or equipment, be capable to use any combination of electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic and/or computer technologies. The reports to the Manufacturing Manager and works closely with the company’s operations and engineering team so as to achieve the company’s goals. The Production Technician should be result oriented and be flexible to work under tight schedules in a fast paced integrated multi-disciplinary team environment.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

·         Undertake and participate in production.

·         Test products or sub-assemblies for functionality or quality.

·         Prepare and assemble materials and/or components for production.

·         Set-up and operate production equipment in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.

·         Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production, using tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, protractors or ring gauges.

·         Set-up and verify the functionality of safety equipment.

·         Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices or products. Determine causes of operational problems or failures on products.

·         Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to customer specifications. Inspect finished products to locate flaws.

·         Undertake or supervise surface mount and through hole soldering according to the requirements of provided schematics.

·         Maintain inventory of job materials, equipment and/or products.

·         Work along with the operations department to ship products produced out of the Calgary facility as required by the production schedule.

·         Support Supply Chain to approve alternate sources for parts by performing component level tests using datasheets and generating quality reports.

·         Understand and implement in production engineering changes, updated drawings and revision documents to maintain product revision.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

  • Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technology, from a recognized/ accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Electrical or Electronics Technician in a manufacturing industry.
  • Must have knowledge of Analog and Digital circuit design.
  • Must have basic mechanical understanding.
  • Able to solder wires, cables, surface mount components and thru-hole components.
  • Knowledge of IPC Soldering Standards and RoHS compliance is an asset.
  • Able to work, follow, and develop work instructions and schematics.
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience working with 120/240Vac and 20-80Vdc with an understanding of 3 Phase and Single Phase circuits.
  • Basic understanding of Batteries, Power Electronics and Energy Storage Systems will be considered an asset.
  • Candidate must possess advanced English communication skills, verbal and written.

Terms of Employment: Full-time permanent position

Salary:                              $40,000 to $50,000 CAD
