In your role as the Promotional Coordinator at The North West Company (NWC) you will facilitate the development of monthly General Merchandise (GM) flyers and arrange promotional vehicles. This involves interacting with Category Managers (CM’s) to gain input into item selection, ensuring alignment to assigned themes and ad vehicles. You will create weekly reports for Northern Canada Retail (NCR) food and conduct weekly ad planning meetings, review upcoming Giant Tiger (GT) and NCR weekly flyers and administer changes as required.

•Manage the creation and coordination of promotions for various banners within NWC;
•Gather monthly information for advertising events from all participating categories and create event plans;
•Verify the accuracy of the information on the event plan, make necessary corrections, and follow up with all participating categories about missing content;
•Consolidate event plan and provide to advertising agency by deadline. Work with ad agency to communicate and coordinate flyer production;
•Validate item inventory and retails before releasing flyer promotions;
•Create, upload, maintain, and update promotional events;
•Provide event plans to stores to notify them of upcoming promotions; assist in resolving pricing and promotional errors as they happen;
•Set up Event Nights and other promotions, update changes and trouble shoot when errors occur;
•Maintain and communicate weekly reports: Daily buy guide, ad efficiency reports, sales tracking reports, and weekly flyer planner in ad meetings; and
•Prepare, set up, and lead planning meetings.
Desired Skills & Experience:
•Data entry and administrative experience;
•Administrative or marketing degree/diploma or equivalent experience;
•Experience working with spreadsheets and data entry software;
•Proofreading experience is an asset;
•Working with enterprise operating systems such as Retek and AS400 is an asset;
•Very detail oriented, organized, and the ability to prioritize tasks;
•Ability to perform under pressure and work within tight deadlines;
•Good communication skills, ability to read large volume of data and spot irregularities;
•Ability to challenge the status quo; and
•Ability to work independently.
