This position is a Software Configuration Management (SCM) analyst job working with mainframe applications, using the Endevour toolset. Configuration management responsibilities include ensuring that appropriate SCM processes are in place and adhered to, conducting configuration audits to ensure that only authorized changes occur to the baseline and controlling implementation of all change across environments, i.e. Dev, Test and Production. Some limited weekend work is required..
1.Developing configuration management (CM) policies, plan, procedures, forms and tools and identifying the procedures to control changes to configuration items, including problem reporting procedures, change control procedures, and User Guides for the SCM tool in adherence with EDGE Process Framework;
2.Identifying the procedures for selecting and identifying configuration items (CIs), and establishing baselines;
3.Ensure that all change is properly managed and that the current status of all CIs (software items configuration files, documents etc…) can be ascertained;
4.Identifying the procedures for recording and reporting the information needed to manage the configuration items effectively, and the audit procedures to be used to check a configuration item for compliance with its configuration identification;
5.Creating and maintaining a repository of configuration characteristics of the system;
6.Establishing status accounting procedures, tools and techniques;
7.Performing independent configuration audits and audits of the CM process on a regular basis;
8.Performing software builds (including ‘merges’ and ‘roll-forwards’) and staging them for the installers, for all official software builds destined for the test and production environments;
9.Performing SLOC counts for metrics gathering activities.
10.Providing direction, mentoring and review of software release policies & procedures;
11.Using Change Requests to document the proposed modifications and ensure approvals and sign-offs are obtained for all change;
12.In conjunction with the development team, organizing approved changes (identified in CRs) into work packages that correspond to releases;
13.Performing Baseline Verifications to ensure the content and integrity of all releases;
14.Assisting in the planning of controlled software releases including the creation of the Release Management Approval documents (RMA); and
15.Documenting and monitoring: the design, build and rollout of software releases; software release & distribution, including control & maintenance of the Definitive Software Library; the management & use of any supporting tools & facilities; Release Management tracking.
Must have an understanding/be able to perform:
oManage SCM environment
oSoftware Version Control
oSoftware Roll Forwards
oSLOC counts etc
1.Well versed in Software Configuration Management standards and procedures;
2.Fluent and knowledgeable on the use of Configuration Management tools – 5 years’ experience with Endevor is a MUST-HAVE requirement.
3.Experience configuration management of web applications would be a definite asset.
4.Knowledge of & experience working with the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework, providing solutions to IT Service Management clients would be an asset
1.Canadian Government Enhanced Reliability Clearance (requires Canadian Citizenship or Landed Immigrant/Permanent Resident status and must have lived in Canada (preferably) for past 5 years or have 5 years of verifiable history)
