Reporting to the Senior Manager, Occupational Hygiene and Safety, with matrix reporting to the Manager, Health Absence Management Program (HAMP), this position will work in collaboration with the Occupational Health and Safety Services team, managers and employees to advance the Hospital’s Ergonomics.

Applies expert knowledge of ergonomic theory, principles, data, methods and analysis to advance ergonomic services and programs to comply with legislative requirements and to optimize employee well-being and system performance.
Through an in-depth understanding of a hospital work environment and ergonomic principles, consults with leadership and staff at all levels to develop innovative and evidence-based solutions and advance ergonomic best practices including the implementation of engineering controls, administrative controls, and/or personal protective equipment.
Participates on working groups to review and make recommendations for proactive ergonomic interventions at the planning, design, construction and/or renovation of work environments and/or the purchase of new tools or equipment.
Develops and implements communication, education and training strategies related to ergonomic programs, policies and procedures.
In collaboration with the HAMP team, completes file or case reviews to provide expert ergonomic advice and identify/facilitate modifications to workstations, tools, equipment, procedures and/or work environments to support an employee’s stay-at work or return to work.
Conducts ergonomic assessments, job coaching, suitability assessments, and other strategies to facilitate an employee’s return to pre-disability or alternate work or to assist with the implementation of new/revised procedures, tasks, equipment, etc.
Acts as the organization’s liaison for Ministry of Labour and/or Workplace Safety and Insurance Board representatives who are onsite regarding ergonomic or return to work issues.
Manages, conducts and/or updates the position demands description (PDD’s) for all required positions within the organization. Complete Employer’s Description as part of disability applications as needed.

Here's What You'll Need
An undergraduate degree in health sciences (e.g., kinesiology, human factors, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, etc.).
A Master’s level degree is preferred
Expert, specialized knowledge of the principles and practice of ergonomics, human factors, occupational health and safety, and disability management
Professional certification or working towards certification such as: Canadian Certified Professional Ergonomist (CCPE), Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE), Certified Human Factors Professional (CHFP), Associate Ergonomist (AE), Certified Ergonomics Associate (CEA), Associate Ergonomics Professional (AEP), or other designation.
At least 5-10 years of applied ergonomics experience
Experience in a health care work environment is preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong time management and organizational skills
Knowledge of adult learning principles
Ability to collaborate and influence others
Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical-thinking skills
Well developed computer skills and knowledgeable of Microsoft Office
The ability to work independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Employment Type: Permanent, part-time; 21 hours/week.
