|A growing mining company currently has a great opportunity as the Financial Operation Analyst. Reporting to the Corporate Controller and working closely with the Finance team, the Financial Operations Analyst will be the key financial reporting contact for the Africa mines. |
Duties include reviewing the monthly mine site production and cost reports and financial statements as prepared by the African mine site accounting teams, assisting with the monthly close and quarterly consolidation, reviewing and preparing supporting working papers, variance analysis, financial statements and other related projects.
You are a designated accountant (CPA) with a good knowledge of accounting cycles and systems (Sage 300 and Syspro), international financial reporting standards and internal control principles. You must be meticulous and detail-oriented. You are a team player with good communication skills.
Review and analyze the monthly site production and cost reports and financial statements as prepared by the African mine site accounting teams. Review the working papers prepared by the African mine site accounting teams and provide GAAP and IFRS accounting guidance, as required. Assist with the consolidation and preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statements under IFRS including statements of cash flows and note disclosures. Perform technical accounting research and analysis. Assist with the external quarterly review and annual audit. Prepare financial analyses for Senior Management. Assist with the annual budget and forecast. Assist with projects, as required.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. Designated CPA (CA, CMA, CGA). Minimum 3-5 years hands-on experience in financial reporting under IFRS including detailed understanding of accounting treatment and disclosure requirements. Minimum 3-5 years full cycle accounting experience (preparing journal entries, working papers, lead sheets, financial statements, notes, etc.). Experience working with Sage 300 (ACCPAC) and Syspro. Experience with multi-currency transactions and consolidations. Experience in audit and internal controls is a plus. Experience in implementing business processes and systems is a plus. Experience in the mining industry is a plus.
