POSITION SUMMARY
The Nurse Educator is responsible, in collaboration with Operations Leadership for the assessment, implementation, planning, evaluation and supportive application of existing and new clinical knowledge and the translation of knowledge to practice.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario as an RN or RN (EC), in good standing
• Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required
• Master’s Degree in Nursing, preferred
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required
• Member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (preferred)
• Minimum five to eight years of relevant and recent mental health experience is required
• Minimum of three to five years of relevant and recent experience as a clinical nurse educator in a mental health setting is required
• Effective knowledge transfer, program planning and evaluation skills
• Superior interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills to facilitate identification and development of staff learning needs
• Committed to excellence in all aspects of the discipline including professional practice, research and education
• A strong desire to promote professional practice and excellence in evidence-based, patient centered care
• Flexible with change and able to set priorities and problem-solve
• Proven ability to facilitate ongoing staff development through mentoring, coaching and counseling skills
• Use and apply adult learning principles in teaching and learning opportunities
• Advanced clinical assessment skills
• Demonstrates ability to provide effective clinical practice leadership
• Proven analytical thinking and problem solving skills
• Proven ability to achieve outcomes through programs delivered to individuals and groups
• Demonstrates ability to work independently and as a member of an interprofessional team
• Demonstrates ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize work in a continuously changing environment
• Demonstrates ability to effectively identify need and facilitate practice related change
• Proven ability to utilize theories and principles of diffusion of innovation and knowledge transfer to foster implementation of best practice
• Computer literacy in a Windows environment utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Proven attendance record
• Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the job
• Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others
