As an Applied Data Scientist on the Digital Intelligence (DI) team, you'll be integral to our goal of building seamless online user experiences. As an expert in analytics and eCommerce, you'll deep-dive into multiple data sources, seeking critical insights and answers to important business questions. In this holistic role, you'll create revenue-driving business strategies based on analytical insights and leverage your relationships with key stakeholders to communicate them out.
What you'll be doing:
- • Stitching, transforming, and cleaning various forms of data, including transactional data, customer behavior data, and text strings (such as customer reviews) • Developing and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics to build predictive models, such as sales forecasting and product price optimization, to support decision making in our eCommerce department • Recommending and supporting tools and services for the management of our data and machine learning algorithms • Leading large analytics projects involving multiple junior analysts by leveraging data management techniques, machine learning technology, and advanced visualization tools • Coordinating with corporate BI to establish clear data pipelines with a high level of data hygiene • Creating team- and department-wide efficiencies by automating tasks and analysis using SQL, R, and Python • Coaching digital analysts on data science best practices and guide them when working on complex problem • Championing a data-driven culture by supporting the eCommerce department to raise its overall analytic IQ through formal training, workshops, insights meetings, and presentations to senior leadership
The experience we need...
- • 5+ years experience completing data-driven analyses to solve business problems and generate revenue within a large eCommerce organization • 3+ years experience managing and prioritizing project requests, frequently presenting insights and strategies to a diverse set of stakeholders ranging from peers to senior executives • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts, machine learning techniques and experiences with applications • Descriptive and predictive modeling and model testing • Strong understanding of experimental design (e.g. multivariate testing vs AB Testing, full factorial vs fractional-factorial • Proficiency in analyzing data using various statistical methods • Experience transforming large scale data sets using SQL, Spark, or other big data technologies • Advanced knowledge of at least one scripting language such as R or Python
- • 1+ year(s) experience working in an Agile environment; familiarity with JIRA, Confluence • Experience working with advertising measurement methods and technologies • Familiarity with cloud platforms (MS Azure preferred) and PAAS technologies • Advanced business understanding of the retail and eCommerce space
