Manages the clinicaldevelopment and education, administration of consignment and equipment, andcustomer education programs pertinent to Medtronic defined products andtechnology.Formulates and implementspolicies and procedures and participates in all facets of clinical andoperational decision-making pertaining to the programs of the organizationalunit. Trains and educates investigators/customers on proper use of theMedtronic product and technology.
TheMedtronic Cardiac and Vascular Group (CVG) is looking to hire a ClinicalSpecialist (CS) to cover our Western Region. The specific role will support theclinical needs of our Aortic and Peripheral Vascular (APV) division. In thisrole with the CVG team, the clinical specialist plays a key role in:
1)supporting product implants
2)training clinical end users andsupporting staff
3)providing product education for new andexisting products (remote and in person as required)
4)collaborating with teammates onstrategic territory plans
Theproduct categories and clinical applications the APV CS will support generallyfall into the following categories:
A)Abdominaland Thoracic Aortic Repair
B)PeripheralArterial Disease and related treatment options
C)Venousdisease and related treatment options
Weare primarily looking for an individual that comes to us with experience in orsome knowledge of operating rooms and/or interventional radiology suites asthese are the main points of contact for utilization of APV products. Thepriority for the CS will be supporting the clinical demands and business plansof our Prairies Region (AB, SK and MB), but from time to time, they will berequired to travel elsewhere in Canada for training, or for additional clinicalsupport if needed.
A Day in the Life.
·Conductson-site education and / or consulting.
·Supportsfield personnel in providing the best possible outcomes and service forMedtronic customers.
·Partners withsales colleagues to develop and execute plans of sales for within one or morebusiness unit(s).
·Participatesin conventions, forums, and meetings to increase product awareness.
·Works closelywith Clinical Lead, Clinical Management and Regional Sales team to providecustomer case and sales support.
·Identifiesand facilitates execution on growth opportunities with Sales and ClinicalSupport Team.
·Serves as atechnical resource to support sales of a specific medical product or solution.
·Responsiblefor reporting complaints and Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR)
·Providesleadership and direction in all aspects of the establishment, implementation,promotion, and administration of the clinical education activities, to includeassessment, curriculum planning, communications and clinical skillsdevelopment, and educational support
·Develop andexecute clinical education programs designed to enhance user competencies
·Cultivatesclose relationship with strategic business partners, including all trainingcenters and opinion leaders
·Provides newemployee training on products, technology and materials
·Assist indeveloping objectives, and programs for marketing and selling the Company’sproducts
·Providesnursing and/or medical expertise in the development, implementation, and casereports, journal articles and clinical reports from clinicians
·Plans,directs, and coordinates educational workshops, and other programs, events, andactivities (Maintain contact with customers to evaluate their clinical andeducational needs)
·Leads effortsto place speakers on podiums at key conferences
·Work withother departments to establish priorities for the Company direction, newproduct development, and customer satisfaction
·Educationreporting requirements (Must document all clinical support and education)
·MonthlyBusiness Review with RSM & KAM
·Bachelor’sdegree in relevant field/discipline required such as Nursing, BiomedicalScience, Cardio Tech
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
- Knowledge of adult education and communication principles and practices
- Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community

·Minimumtravel of 50-60% of any given work week
·Bachelor’s degree in relevant field - Education in Science,Biology, Nursing or Biomedical an asset
Advanceddegree in relevant field/discipline required such as Nursing, BiomedicalScience, Cardio Tech
- No minimum years of relevant experience
- Medical device experience within cardiac surgery, electrophysiology, cardio-tech, interventional cardiology or general cardiology
- Demonstrated cardiac operating theatre and/or cath lab experience
- Graduate degree preferred.
- Clinical trial experience within medical device space is a bonus.
Physical Job Requirements
·Frequentrequired travel to customer clinics, hospitals and offsite meetings.While performing the duties of this job, theemployee is regularly required to be independently mobile
·Frequent 2-handed lifting of up to 40 lbs. from floor to chair/table and from one toanother surface at approximately the same level
·Sitting,standing and/or walking for up to eight plus hours per day
·Environmentalexposures include eye protection, infectious disease and radiation
·Ability towear 7-9 lbs of lead for extended periods of time while in the O.R.
·ClinicalSpecialists are required to be within their assigned territory each day to beavailable as unscheduled needs arise. CS’s are required to work a number ofweekend and holidays during the quarter, as determined by localmanagement.Weeknight call coverage isthe primary responsibility of the Sales Rep, however, at times, business and/orgeographical needs require a CS to be scheduled for weeknight coverage asapproved by regional management.
