The Electrical Design Group works closely with the Electrical Task Force Engineers to support the detailed design of the electrical power systems required for various types of complex industrial plant facilities. This includes preparation of the designs necessary to specify, locate, install and interconnect a wide variety of electrical equipment and components.
Electrical Designers perform 3D modeling using SmartPlant 3D (S3D) and utilize other electrical system design software such as Smart Plant Electrical (SPEL) to support the preparation of the electrical drawing deliverables and associated material take-offs including but not limited to the; hazardous area classification plans, single line diagrams, motor schematics, substation equipment layouts, lighting & small power layouts, grounding layouts, cable tray layouts, power & control cable schedules, panel schedules, interconnections wiring diagrams, electric heat tracing isometrics, electric heat tracing heater schedules, electrical heat tracing location plans.
Opportunities are provided for electrical designers to become familiar with, and to become competent in dealings with, complex electrical systems and controls for large motors, generators, switchgear and motor control centers.
All design and engineering work is performed in compliance with Fluor standards & practices and applicable Codes. Practical experience is gained through short-term field assignments during which time the designer assists in systems checkout and testing. Electrical Designers on a project work directly for the Design Supervisor who is in turn under the direction of the Project Electrical Lead Engineer.
