The Financial Analyst is responsible for report generation, interpretation of financial results, and cost analysis. The incumbent works closely with the Director of Finance for the Tax Services practice in the review, preparation, and consolidation of monthly reporting, annual budgets and forecasts. Responsibilities include financial reporting on revenue, expenses, and profitability. The Financial Analyst will also assist in inventory management and revenue recognition, and will work closely with client serving individuals and other finance personnel in this regard. The successful candidate will want this position because the individual is a “doer,” interested in reporting and financial systems, and aspires to enable client servers to make better business decisions. **Your key responsibilities** + Assist the Director of Finance and the Tax Services Finance team in the strategic delivery of financial initiatives + Provide timely data, clear responses to queries, and thoughtful interpretation of financial results + Deliver on requests for ad hoc reports or financial information and interact with internal and external EY personnel to verify information + Assist in general accounting activities such as: month end close, vendor review, and account reconciliations + Provide effective communication across Canada and with offshore support functions + Apply judgement in reviewing data to identify and correct errors or omissions + Analyze data to identify trends and abnormalities + Communicate with external contacts and internal personnel to resolve data issues + Comfort in working with complex systems + Share knowledge and experiences across the team to strengthen skills and improve quality of reporting **To qualify for the role you must have** + University degree in accounting, finance, business administration or equivalent experience + 3-5 years of relevant experience in a related area of an accounting or analysis function is preferred + Proficiency in the use of standard software, including MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required + Proficiency with SAP is an asset + Professional designation, such as CPA, is strongly preferred **What working at EY offers** At EY, our Total Rewards package supports our commitment to creating a leading people culture - built on high-performance teaming - where everyone can achieve their potential and contribute to building a better working world for our people, our clients and our communities.
