Plant Engineer position will be responsible for the design, construction, maintenance, and/or repair of plant building(s) or machinery and conduct studies to develop and supervise programs to enhance efficiency and productivity. Primarily accountable for reviewing the organization's internal
Powering Vehicles, Motion, Work, and Lives since 1966.
·Focuses on the Direct Phase of Lean Manufacturing (Value Stream Mapping, Standardized Work, and 5S Workplace Organization) as outlined in Management report.
·Plan, organize and control all aspects of the Direct Phase of the LPS.
·Able to produce and implement the indirect phase of the LPS.
·Work in collaboration with Maintenance and Production to implement the TPM system.
·Participate and facilitate all CATS and Scrap Attacks in facility, including follow-up of previous commitments.
·Perform monthly self-audits of 3S and 5S.
·Develop flexible or integrated manufacturing systems and procedures.
·Conduct studies and implement programs to optimize inventory levels for production and to utilize all machinery, materials and resources.
·Design, develop and conduct time studies and work simplification programs.
·Conduct studies of the reliability and performance of plant facilities and production or administrative systems.
·Evaluate or assess industrial facilities.·Work with outside vendors and suppliers to oversee compliance with safety regulations and completion of work.
·Act as liaison to the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
·Post-Secondary Degree inIndustrial Engineering or in a related Engineering discipline.
·Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of professional engineers is essential to approve engineering drawings and reports and to practice as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
·Ability to write comprehensive entries into technical log books.
·Able to communicate clearly in all formats (i.e. written, verbal, drawing formats etc.)
·Ability to evaluate the ability of current building systems to address increased demands from plant operations.
·Ability to take precise measurements using specialized equipment and techniques.
·Able to interact with various departments for tasks such as creating scale drawings, preparing specifications, writing proposals and developing plant maintenance schedules.
·Proficiency in all applicable software applications (e.g. Microsoft office including Project, Auto Cad, Solidworks).
·Knowledge of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining.
·Attend formal professional development seminars and conferences as needed.
