About the Job
Seeking a Project Manager in the greater Toronto area to contribute to projects for a prominent Ontario utility company. The Project Manager will work with the utility and consultants to monitor project charter, project plans, budget, scope, schedule, expenditures, client satisfaction and risks. They will report on variances and impacts to deliverables and make recommendations to project leadership to mitigate cost overruns, maintain adherence to allocated budgets and timelines, and ensure delivery of a successful project. Work involves meeting with key stakeholders to report on project status and make strategic decisions. The Project Manager should possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
With the direction from the project leadership, the Project Manager will be responsible for managing day to day progress of all scope dimensions. This position coordinates assigned staff and provides leadership by directing work teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure accountability, communication, and performance.
The Project Manager must be a self-starter and feel comfortable working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment, demonstrating an open-mind and a critical eye for details.
Key responsibilities:
- Broad knowledge of delivery systems / development projects in a large company setting.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, plan, organize, prioritize and implement projects in a timely manner in a dynamic project environment with changing priorities.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, customer relations, communication and facilitation skills to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
Key qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills—verbal and written
- 3+ years of experience in Project Management, particularly in utilities and/or transformation implementations
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing projects in a fast-paced and changing technical environment
- Utilities experience
- PMP Certification is an asset

- Strong organizational, interpersonal, customer relations, communication and facilitation skills to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Create detailed project plans and schedule covering all scope
- Chair status meetings (send out agendas, minutes, etc.)
- Maintaining workplan, track team progress with immediate escalation on date slippage
- Establishes project team structure
- Track project to schedule, timelines and budget, produce comprehensive status reports
- Provides frequent clear and concise reports regarding ongoing issues, progress updates, challenges and opportunities
- Address challenges including organizational, vendor, technical, documentation, budget logistics
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in Project Management, particularly utility and / or transformation implementations
- Broad based technical knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing projects in a fast-paced and changing technical environment
- Experience in managing projects across multiple sites and/or with multiple partners
- Extensive documentation capabilities
- PMP Certification is an asset
- Proven management and team leadership abilities
- Cost Management, Change Management, Risk Management experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills at both technical and executive level
- Ability to navigate and deliver in ambiguous circumstances (limited information, complex stakeholder management)
