Deco Automotive, located in Rexdale and Brampton, Ontario is an automotive parts manufacturing facility that produces structural automotive components for Original Equipment Manufacturers ("OEM") including BMW, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Tesla, and Toyota/Lexus. Deco Automotives' capabilities include; Stamping, Hydroforming, Laser, CNC Machining, E Coating, Steel and Aluminum Assembly. We are certified in ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 14001.
The Purchasing Department Leader is responsible for managing and supporting the company's procurement requirements to meet company/regulatory policies and procedures.
* Leads and coordinates all aspects of purchasing and supplier development activities (i.e. Request for Quote, Negotiations, Strategic Sourcing Strategy, Supplier Audits, Contract Review, Supplier Selection) of the team to provide the best value in the market place for the dollars spent in a manner that meets the budgets, policies, ethical standards and audit requirements of Deco Automotive. * Support new business development pre and post acquisition activities * Builds an effective and empowered Purchasing Team that has the skills and motivation to generate quality output while meeting departmental and divisional goals * Actively participates as a dynamic, progressive member of leadership team to strengthen our ability to perform and grow to meet our maximum group potential * Implements and maintains all company plans to hire and train team members to support business needs * Continuous improvement to the Purchasing function as well as systems * Make recommendations for potential opportunities or risks * Monitors the activities of subordinates and the work area to ensure that proper Purchasing procedures are being followed * Develops, maintains and enhances the elements of S.P.Q.P. in support of Deco Automotive culture * Establishes and maintains effective communications with all Departments * Promotes accountability through application of the progressive discipline policy * Provides formal and informal performance feedback to Team Members * Meet the divisional overall Key Performance Indicators, as set out in the Division's plan * Cross trains Team Members to maximize flexibility supporting SPQP * Conducts accident / incident investigations as required * Implements corrective actions for Safety, Quality and all other audits * Knows and understands process documentation and customer specific requirements as they relate to this job function. * Completes layered audits to include safety, standardized work, housekeeping, 5S, and Quality inspection reports. * Facilitates meetings * Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (ie. TS16949, ISO14001) * Understands, promotes and lives by Magna's philosophies and Employee Charter * Adheres to Deco Automotive's core values; integrity, respect, trust, honesty, fairness and loyalty * Perform other duties as required * Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position.
Knowledge and Education
* Post-Secondary Degree in Business Administration/Engineering or Completed Certified * Professional Purchasing (CPP) accreditation * Minimum five (5) years leadership experience in automotive or related manufacturing industry * Minimum five (5) to ten (10) years purchasing experience * Strong negotiating skills * Strong understanding of contract language * Prior experience with supplier Advanced Product Quality Planning process * Familiarity with ISO/TS 16949 and Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) standards * Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills * Strong analytical, mathematical and problem solving skills * Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, SAP,Q Pulse, Internet) * Familiar with all aspects of purchasing within Deco Automotive Systems * Eligible to travel outside of Canada with a required valid passport * Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs * Ability to uphold confidentiality * Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
* Ensure Team Members use or wear the protective equipment required by Deco Automotive Systems and adhere to the requirements of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and the regulations * Advise Team Members of any potential hazards and/or provide written instructions as to the measures to protect the Team Member * Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a Team Member and report any known contravention out of their control to the Steering Team * Conducts accident / incident investigations implementing corrective actions * Conducts monthly safety inspections and implements corrective actions * Corrects unsafe acts or conditions * Corrects or commends health & safety performance * Conducts safety talks
