The Recruiter – Trades Workforce works in partnership with the Operations department at Vancouver Shipyards, Human Resources and the Talent Acquisition team to develop and execute recruitment strategies that result in a robust talent pipeline of skilled trades candidates who exhibit and fit with Seaspan’s Core Values. The Recruiter – Trades Workforce is responsible for sourcing candidates across Canada using a variety of techniques to attract candidate interest right through to supporting their onboarding to the Shipyard. This position reports to the Director, Trades Workforce Development.
Demonstrate functional expertise and market knowledge to identify and deploy a variety of recruiting methods to source and attract the best available talent;
Works closely with various departments throughout the recruitment process, to develop accurate competency requirements, position specifications, and candidate profiles;
Ensure trades candidates possess the right skills, competencies, behaviours and cultural fit, to meet both short-term and long-term production and business objectives;
Act as primary interface with candidates ensuring an enhanced candidate experience through a professional approach, responsiveness and exceptional communication skills;
Maintain ongoing relationships with external service providers;
Maintain detailed records in recruitment files, as well as provide comprehensive written reviews of screened candidates as required;
Ensure all internal control, compliance and regulatory guidelines are met;
Promote and drive diversity;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education
A business degree and/or relevant HR professional certification is required.
Minimum of 3 years experience recruiting trades and/or junior technical roles.
Experience in sourcing, coordinating and participating in recruitment drives and career events.
A combination of search firm or recruitment agency experience and corporate recruitment experience preferred.
