Position Title: Seasonal Rail Operator
Work Location: Slave Lake, Alberta
Title of manager this position reports to: Northern Transportation Supervisor
Work Rotation: 5 days on, 2 days off
Work Days / Hours: 8 hour work day with the possibility of overtime
Purpose of Role: Loading Tiger’s fleet of rail cars with calcium as well as completing all paper work required for the position.
Load rail cars.
Washing rail cars.
Follow Alberta Transportation's regulations on rail car securement.
Maintain a clean and tidy personal work area
Summer and winter site maintenance (vegetation control and snow removal)
Maintain a daily record of all work tasks and materials.
Support and encourage continuous improvement in work practices.
Completing daily job hazard assessments.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, WORK EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
High school equivalency
Previous industry experience would be an asset.
Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Knowledge of working on top of rail cars as well as washing inside tank cars.
Capable of preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports.
Ability to multi-task.
Has a collaborative communication style at all levels of the organization demonstrating an open, honest and consistent approach to working with others.
Certification in the following would be considered an asset
o Fall Protection, Confined space, H2S, Rail car safety and securement.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK CONDITIONS
Physical Requirement: Lifting up to 50lbs, pulling, climbing, standing, sitting, lying down, squatting and kneeling. Weed eater, leave blower, high pressure water hose, and small hand tools.
Working Conditions: Work is performed outside in all different weather conditions, including cold and extreme heat. Some out of hours work may be required on a call out basis.
