About the role:Support services are needed to assist in the reintegration of Indigenous offenders who are releasing from federal correctional facilities into urban centres. This is a new project that is currently being reviewed for award and Calian is looking for qualified applicants to participate in this new project with us.In this very diverse role, you could be responsible for providing health, wellness, life skills training and/or counselling to Indigenous clients prior to release. After release, you would be ensuring they have the services they need to reintegrate into the community. Alternatively, you might focus on supporting Indigenous clients releasing from correctional facilities to disaffiliate from gangs by supporting cultural identity training or counselling.
The qualifications: • Must be within a 200km commute of Stony Mountain Institution• Two years experience within the last four year providing cultural identity training or counselling with a focus on promoting gang disaffiliationOR• Two years experience within the last four years providing health wellness or life skills training or counselling to Indigenous people in a group or individual setting• Assets include:• 5 years of experience specifically related to trauma, additions and/or life skills• 5 years of experience acquiring cultural competency through working with Indigenous communities, groups or individualsWhile Calian is open to all qualified applicants, due to the nature of this contract, Calian is actively seeking applicants that identify as First Nations, Inuit or Metis. Those candidates that are First Nations, Inuit or Metis are asked to self identify as part of the application process.
Type of assignment:Contracts will be granted as and when required by the facility and may require full time or part time hours.
