About the Job
The Senior Systems Integration Engineer under the direction of the Manager, IT/Engineering, will be working with Implementation and Technical Operations. They will be working on implementing projects and supports services relevant to the all services and business areas. The Senior Systems Integration Engineer will work closely with the Implementation, Technical Operations, and Engagement & Adoption teams to implement and deploy services, provided by the HIE, that improve the clinical and business operations of participating organizations. The Senior Systems Integration Engineer will also be responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of any additional projects that contribute to the advancement of the organization.
Responsibilities
• Plan, coordinate, monitor and implement projects and support services that include but are not limited to Direct Secure Messaging (DSM), Admit Discharge Transfer (ADT) data feeds, Continuity of Care Document (C-CDA) data feeds, Automated Care Team Finder Service (ACTF), Clinical Activity History (CAH), Encounter Notification Service (ENS), AWS (Amazon Web Services) implementations, and other projects as assigned. • Identify and develop reporting and metrics framework for all services • Develop and refine HL7 interfaces and Market Place Application Programing Interfaces (APIs). • Create, test, and correct inbound and outbound interfaces based on HL7v2, CDA, FHIR, IHE and other standards. • Conduct quality assurance (QA) on data feeds and work with data providers to improve the quality and consistency of the data. • Support Business Go Live Meetings for implementations and services with technical, clinical and or business leaders from HSX and participating organizations. • Create and maintain code mappings, when necessary, for translating codes of sending facilities’ HL7 messages. • Ensure end-to-end message transport and processing is achieved and troubleshoot and research issues that may arise in an electronic system’s encoding of HL7 messages. • Design and develop innovative software solutions that solve tough challenges through automation and improved efficiency. • Manage multiple job duties through efficient task management. • Communicate effectively with business partners and clients when needed.

Additional Responsibilities • Maintain a professional, trusting relationship with coworkers and members. • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies. • Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements. • Help develop/oversee team members consisting of engineers, analysts, and interns who can support implementation projects and support activities Qualifications Required • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • More than five (5) years of interface engine experience with knowledge of HL7, X12, EDI, DICOM standards, and AWS Services • Experience developing healthcare integration applications using any standardized interface engine with Mirth Connect preferred or equivalent: Cloverleaf or Rhapsody as an example • Knowledge of HIE services and Health Information Technology (HIT) and networking. • Knowledge of healthcare terminology for example ICD-10, CPT, LOINC, etc. • Experience with data feeds and terminology • Excellent organizational and time management skills. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Able to work both independently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders. Additional/Preferred • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Attributes Required • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively and work collaboratively. • Ability to communicate effectively and good interpersonal skills. • Strong problem solving and critical-thinking skills. • Ability to work independently, with little to no supervision. • Experience with Mirth Connect, Mirth Results, Mirth Match, and Mirth Mail • Scripting languages (Javascript Lambda, Perl, Python, etc.) and knowledge of SQL would be a plus • Knowledge of XSLT • Experience in a healthcare or healthcare support industry is strongly desired • Development experience in any object-oriented programming language (e.g. C#, Java, etc.) • Strong knowledge in Object Oriented Programing (OOP), Object Oriented Development (OOD), and design patterns • Two (2) or more years of experience in software development. • Database, data modeling, and reporting experience is a plus • Knowledge with AWS database options Additional/Preferred • Experience in back-end J2EE development • Expert in the following technologies: EJB3; JMS; Web Services; XML • Knowledge with JDBC, SQL, SOA; ESB; Rules Engine; BPEL knowledge
