When you’re starting your career, the most important thing is finding the right opportunity.
You have the technical aptitude and the drive that employers are looking for.
You need an entry-level job with an employer who’ll give you the resources and support you need to prove yourself.
We’re Lassing Dibben Consulting Engineers Ltd., an award-winning firm of diverse engineers, technicians and technologists specializing in bulk material handling. We design custom solutions for manufacturers, contractors, government agencies, mining companies and developers.
We are looking for a Technical Administrative Assistant / Entry Level Draftsperson to join our team. This is a stepping-stone role. Learn the company and our industry, then in 6 months, step into a more technical role if you show the aptitude. This is the opportunity you can build a career on.
Technical Administrative Assistant / Entry Level Draftsperson
Your primary goal in this position will be to provide working drawings/designs for our senior team. This is a golden learning opportunity in which you’ll work closely with the technical staff, picking up industry skills and knowledge as you go, like junior drafting skills for industrial equipment and structural steel.
When you’re not engaged on the technical side, you’ll oversee various types of communications between team members and clients: things like purchase orders, specification documents, and drawings. You’ll ensure that everything is double checked and correct, saving colleagues and clients from the little mistakes that cause big headaches.
In the process you’ll learn our business and project structures, and become familiar with the needs of our clients as our technical front desk person. Communications between the client and our team will flow through you. You’ll act as a filter and gatekeeper, connecting internal and external people in the right ways. After 6 months in this position you’ll know our clients and every type of document and communication we use.
You’ll succeed in this role because you’re
- Detail-oriented – you can spot errors quickly, and you love getting things right.
- Driven – you are happy to start in an entry-level job, because you know you’ll learn quickly and make yourself indispensable.
- Personable – you enjoy meeting new people. You’re energized by helping and working with others.
- Technically gifted – technical concepts have always come easy to you. You pick that stuff up quickly and love finding solutions.
From this position, many have become drafts people, technicians, technologists, and ultimately senior leaders here. We’ll give you every opportunity to grow, so if you’re looking for a job that will give you results in the long-term, this is it.
